Step 3: Replacing the missing drawers
To replace the two missing drawers:
- Manufacturing : Doors were made from plywood and wood finishes.
- Ventilation and aesthetics : Gold metal grilles have been added to the doors to give them a vintage look while ensuring good air circulation.
- Accessories : The retro handles and hinges, salvaged from my personal stash, added an extra touch of charm to the whole thing.
Step 4: Finishing touches and assembly
To complete the transformation:
- Mouldings were attached to camouflage the rough joints above the chest of drawers.
- All the elements were assembled using nails, construction glue and a furniture stapler .
The result: a unique and practical piece

This chest of drawers, once destined for the trash, has been given a second life on our terrace. Its new look combines retro elegance with functionality . It can serve as outdoor furniture or as a centerpiece indoors. It illustrates how creativity can transform any object into a work of art.
